6000 Guatemalans hear the gospel... 167 receive the Gift of Eternal Life in                                                     Jesus Christ!
The moment I arrive at the airport I am whisked to the powerful "Radio Cultural" penetrating the entire country, with 25 repeater stations, where I record 4 hours of radio programming.
Day one... We depart at 4 AM and drive 9 hours up treacherous mountain roads with unending curves, pot holes, and speed bumps. Numerous landslides sometimes wash away the road leaving gaping crevasses with drops below for thousands of feet. You wouldn't believe the last 11/2 hours of driving...it is called a "road", but consists of small rocks, medium rocks, and large rocks. Even with 4-wheel drive, our 1994 Rav4 Toyota tries 3 to 4 times to traverse some of the uphill grades. Finally, we arrive at Chequin, with oxygen sparse 12,000 feet above sea level and temperatures in the high 30's. Five hundred mountain people are waiting for us on an open field surrounded by clouds. I am dressed in my long Johns, suit, down-filled vest, and leather jacket!

As darkness sets in, the lights on the makeshift platform go on. Talk about Ingenuity... look at the light bulb receiving  electricity with a 2 safety pin connection!

These Guatemalans know us from our radio program, Impacto, and many walk long distances to meet these "radio personalities". In spite of near freezing weather, they listen intently to the good news of the gospel. Many respond to the voice of God, receiving the gift of salvation. This makes your finances and our grueling trip very worthwhile.

Additional crusades in the towns of San Pablo and Camoja with a special meeting for 60 pastors round out our trip. Just prior to our last crusade meeting in the outdoor municipal gymnasium, we receive the news that a NATION WIDE TRANSPORTATION STRIKE STOPPING ALL TRAFFIC is scheduled to begin at 6 AM. To catch our flights, we race through the long night, with no sleep, over those dangerous mountain roads in order to avoid the ensuing roadblocks.

InChequin a wife can be purchased for $50.00... with a lifetime to Pay!

After two 4 AM departures and a sleepless night, I dose all the way home on the plane and arrive at my doorstep in total exhaustion. Believe me, I would not make a trip like that for any amount of money. But, to see God at work, transforming lives for all eternity, makes it all worthwhile.

Thank you for sending me to take GIFTS OF SALVATION to 167 Guatemalans!!!
