In almost every crusade we are invited to conduct assemblies in public and private schools. Not only can we present the clear gospel.. .we can also give a public invitation to receive Christ.
Pictured is a meeting at a school during our recent time in Honduras. I well recall another morning in the city of La Ceiba. Like many schools, they didn't have an auditorium. We met on the soccer field. No seats. The high school student body of about 1,000 stood at attention during the entire meeting.
When the invitation to receive Christ was given, about 25% of those present stepped forward. The headmaster (not a Christian at all) came to me following the meeting. "You must come back with your team this afternoon. I have a much larger crop of kids coming in the next session." "Not possible," I replied. "Our schedule is full." "You must make room for us, he insisted. My other students need to hear this message." Needless to say, we made room. He was right! A much larger group congregated on the soccer field that afternoon. When the invitation was given, about 30% responded. The non-Christian headmaster made his way to the microphone and stated, "The rest of you who have not come forward should consider this message and invitation very seriously. This is true culture!!!"
With such freedom, you can understand why we go back time after time to the countries of Latin America...
not only for the crusade meetings, but also for opportunities to present our Savior in schools. Statistics point out that, of those who receive Christ in their lifetime, 80% do so prior to the age of 18. I took this step when I was 16. Margie did when she as 9. How about you?
