GUATEMALAN MAYOR
BOWS
AND KISSES MY HAND
An Impact team member from Guatemalainforms me later,"That is a sign of great respect". The mayor confesses, "I am a Catholic, but I have brought two car loads of friends to your crusade each night here in San Pablo, La Laguna, Solola, Guatemala. I need this message of hope and they need it, too." I pray for him and his friends.
Now, a few years later we return to San Pablo, situated on the shores of Lake Atitian, Guatemala. The meeting place for the crusade is the new, outdoor basketball/sports arena. The mayor arrives early the first night with his entire council and declares to me, “/ listens to you all the time on the radio. God has changed my heart. We are delighted that you are here to inaugurate this sports complex. I want you to dedicate It with a public prayer on this opening night" We are happy to comply with his request.
The mayor attends each night, bringing his entire town council of 10 men. He sits them in the first row so they can get the message loud and clear. Obviously, God touched and transformed his life and he wants his closest colleagues to experience that same blessing. He has not only tasted salvation;he is becoming a soul winner!!!
The last time I spoke at the Minooka Bible Church, Minooka, Illinois, Pastor Dave Jankowski stepped up beside me on the platform and stated the following: "You gave some wonderful statistics of people who have been saved in your crusades and are now growing in Christ. Have you ever stopped to think how many people THEY are now leading to Christ? This multiplies the stats considerably."
Pastor Dave Jankowski has a very valid point The 309,025 in the last 17 years who indicated their desire to trust Christ, as Savior, are now multiplying themselves! The crusade harvest of our 7 evangelists is just the tip of the iceberg. We see them maturing to become soul winners, elders, pastors, mayors and, even, missionaries.
This thrills me beyond words!!! It is the greatest satisfaction of my entire career.
